If you have sailed with Royal Caribbean International before, you may be interested to know that you are eligible for the exclusive rate called ‘CAS’ – Crown and Anchor Society rate. This means if you have cruised on the Oasis of the Seas, Allure of the Seas and other ships with ‘of the Seas’ ending you are a member even if you don’t know about it.
The Crown and Anchor Society is a loyalty program for past guests on Royal Caribbean International. Among all loyalty programs at sea this is the most popular one. The Crown and Anchor Society program is divided into different levels with different benefits. So, enroll into the program after your first cruise on Royal Caribbean ship and accumulate the points!
According to Betsy O’Rourke, Senior Vice-president of Royal Caribbean, cruisers are looking for 3 things:
- Upgrades
- Discounts
- Recognition
Upgrades may be done differently but let’s see this topic from the Crown & Anchor Society point of view.
You have to check the box for a free upgrade if you wish to be upgraded automatically. The higher your status with Royal Caribbean International, the more likely you will receive an upgrade. Members with Diamond Plus and Pinnacle status will be the first to be upgraded for free.
Upgrades happened up to a few days prior to departure.
Second, are the discounts. Before Crown and Anchor Society members received certificates by mail, later certificates were available online only. Starting from April 15, 2014 no more certificates are issued. There will be a special Crown and Anchor Society rate. Please remember that not all sails and dates are offered. As for today, there are only 409 sailings with CAS rates.
- You can save up to 25% with a new CAS rate – I checked it today, it is true!
- You don’t need to wait for quarterly discounts – sailings and dates are added on regular basis.
- You will see your saving immediately and pick up the best option you can afford – this gives you more flexibility to choose the best option for you and your family
Third, is recognition. It may be in different forms – special cocktail party for Crown and Anchor Society members only or welcome onboard gift basket or Diamond Lounge. I will expand about specials in another post.
