When embarking on your next vacation, don’t forget to take matters into your own hands! Not just what to pack, or how to plan your itinerary, but your health onboard as well. No matter how small or large the ship, from river cruises to the Allure of the Seas and the Oasis of the Seas, health is a priority on each ship. When clients are hesitant about staying healthy during their cruise vacations, I always point to several factors to keep in mind when considering a ship.
Your health on board is primarily up to you! Washing your hands consistently is a simple and effective measure to ensure a healthy trip. Remember, you are sharing a floating ocean liner with hundreds of guests for the duration of your trip. Ask any parent of a student, and you are sure to be acquainted with the common colds and such that they bring from school. Yet such illnesses are largely preventable, by washing hands after the restroom, before you eat, and avoid touching your face.
Cruise liners are well aware and prepared for any medical situation, as they know that healthy cruisers are happy cruisers. Ships are well equipped and staffed by licensed professionals to handle a myriad of situations before patients can be reached to shore. Cruise lines follow the requirements put forth by the American College of Emergency Physicians and many cruise lines have established links with well-known medical institutions.
